Bordeaux have let it be known they are willing to listen to offers this summer for Rangers target Josh Maja, Football Insider has learned.

The premature completion of the Ligue 1 season means most French clubs are desperate for cash and ready to offload stars for knockdown fees.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Maja, 21, is on the target list of the club's recruitment team as they assess potential replacements for star man Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers are aware that Maja is now set to be available this summer, 18 months after joining Bordeaux from Sunderland for around £1.5million.

He will certainly not come cheaply after his meteoric rise, and there will also be intense competition for his signature from clubs north and south of the border.

Maja secured an astonishing £56,000-a-week pay hike when he quit his £1,000-a-week deal at Sunderland in the middle of last season and rejected multiple new contract offers to head overseas.

His £57,000-a-week Bordeaux package will be a major hurdle for Rangers and the striker's other suitors to overcome in negotiations.

It is nearly double the salary of current top earner Morelos, who is wanted by clubs in the Premier League as well as on the Continent.

Maja, who has been capped once by Nigeria, scored 15 goals in 24 League One matches in the first half of last season to secure his move to Bordeaux.

He is a key member of the squad rather than a regular starter, scoring eight goals from 24 matches for the French club this season.
