Roma striker Umar Sadiq has undergone a medical at Rangers and is set to be unveiled as Steven Gerrard's eighth signing of the season.

The Daily Mail claims that he still needs a work permit before he can confirm his season-loan move.

The 21-year-old Nigerian striker, who has won six caps for his country in the Olympics, has made six senior appearances for Roma and scored two goals.

He joined Roma for £2.25m from Spezia in 2016, and has enjoyed loan spells at Bologna and Torino. Gerrard is now set to offer him a massive stage at Ibrox that could give his career a big boost.

The striker stands 6ft 3in and is a towering presence, who should fit into the Scottish Premiership perfectly.
