Pedro Caixinha will have taken plenty of positives from Rangers' narrow 2-1 win over Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers picked up their first Scottish Premiership points of the season in their first league game, with a brace coming from new signing Graham Dorrans.

Rangers' number 10 Dorrans gave the 54-time Scottish champions the lead just four minutes into the match, as he lashed home a Kenny Miller knockdown from 15 yards out.

However, the Gers were pulled back before half time as Ben Heneghan headed home a Craig Tanner cross at the back post before Dorrans scored a second from the penalty spot.

The win sees Pedro Caixinha's side get their 2017-18 campaign back on track after already being knocked out of the Europa League by European minnows Progres Niedercorn.

Football Insider rates the Rangers players following the performance, with a 23-year-old getting a huge 9/10 while a new signing struggled to adapt:

Goalkeepers and defenders

Wes Foderingham 6 -

Started the match well by making a number of good saves and claiming crosses well, but inexplicably refused to come for the Tanner cross that saw Heneghan score. Inconsistent, like last season.

Lee Hodson 6 (replaced by James Tavernier, 62 mins) - Combative performance from the right-back in the absence of James Tavernier, as he kept things simple.

Bruno Alves 8 - Assured and composed performance from the Euro 2016 winner, as he won every single header and showed an intricate array of passing which included setting up the Gers' first.

Fabio Cardoso 7 - A solid debut for the Portuguese ace, who seemed at home in the Scottish Premiership. Kept the ball well and marked Louis Moult well.

Lee Wallace 6 - Rusty. A number of sloppy mistakes which included kicking the ball straight out of play. Not a bad performance, but with Myles Beerman behind him, improvement is needed.

Midfielders

Ryan Jack 7 -

Did his job well without excelling in other areas. Passing was short, simple and accurate, while the Scotland international broke up a number of Motherwell's attacks.

Graham Dorrans 9 - Excellent debut from the boyhood Rangers fan, as he scored within the first four minutes with an accurate first-time finish before doubling his tally from the spot. Offered creativity and precision when going forward and with his passing.

Attackers

Daniel Candeias 4 -

Everything the journeyman winger did, seemed to fail. Poor decision making, over hit crosses and laziness when tracking back. The new signing needs to be dropped.

Kenny Miller 7 (replaced by Danny Wilson, 77 mins) - A constant thorn in the Motherwell defence as he operated in between the midfield and attack, but missed a sitter in the second half. Slightly out of match practice.

Josh Windass 9 - Superb performance from the 23-year-old midfielder, who lined up on the left flank slightly away from his natural position. Hit the woodwork twice, showing pace that has not been seen before.

Eduardo Herrera 7 (replaced by Alfredo Morelos, 83 mins) - Struggled to get into the game but held the ball up well when given a chance. Not given any clear-cut opportunities in front of goal, but deserves to keep his place.
