Rangers defender Bruno Alves is currently undergoing a medical at Parma ahead of an imminent move, according to Sky Sports.

Alves was part of the Portugal squad that got knocked out of the Round of 16 by Uruguay, but he had a less-than-convincing season for Rangers, and Steven Gerrard would like to have him off the books to free up funds.

He struggled with injuries but still made 25 appearances for Rangers last season, but he doesn't fit the mould of the new Rangers team being constructed by Gerrard.

He arrived at Ibrox last summer on a free transfer from Cagliari and now it looks like his time in Scotland could be coming to an end.

He won't go down as one of Pedro Caixinha's worst buys but most fans won't be sad to see him go.

The 36-year-old joined Rangers from Cagliari but only made 25 appearances as he struggled with injuries throughout the season.

If Gerrard can get him off the books, as looks likely, it could be a game-changer for Rangers in terms of new players they can afford to bring in.
