Rangers are open to offers for Cyriel Dessers and would consider selling him for the right price amid speculation over his future.

That is according to former Man United chief scout and Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the striker's inconsistency in front of goal has made his position insecure.

So far this season, Dessers has scored just eight goals in 21 Premiership games and has recently lost his place in the starting XI to Hamza Igamane.

His inconsistency in front of goal has long been a concern of the fans, while his struggles to hold the ball up and link play have been a source of frustration.

Now, with his importance under Philippe Clement dwindling, there is a feeling that the right offer could tempt Rangers to let him leave before the 3 February deadline.

Rangers plan to accept Cyriel Dessers offers

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that if Rangers can make a profit on the £4.5million they paid, they will facilitate his exit.

"It's a difficult one with Dessers," he told Football Insider.

"When I hear Rangers fans talk about him, they say the thing about him is the amount of goals he misses.

"When he scores, you look and think that's what he's capable of.

"But it's about the number of goals he misses.

"He came on as a sub against Man United when they've got all sorts of injury problems, because he's lost his starting place in their team.

"I think there's a bit of a dilemma there, he's a bit of an enigma because he scores just enough goals to keep people interested and keep the belief in him.

"But if they got a reasonable bid for him, perhaps making a profit on what they paid, then I think they'll sell him because the questions about him won't seem to go away."
