Tottenham have made a contract offer to Schalke sensation Saed Kolasinac, according to a report.

German media outlet Bild claim that the Premier League title challengers have offered the left-back a deal as they take early steps to strengthen their squad ahead of the summer window.

It is said that Spurs have made an offer of £5.1million per year to Kolasinac, 23, which is equivalent to £98,000-a-week.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has caught the eye of a string of leading clubs due to his performances since emerging from the ranks of Schalke.

Intriguingly, he is out of contract at the end of the season and Bild report that the Bundesliga club have been unable to tie him to a new deal.

With interest from a number of Premier League teams, as well as Juventus and Atletico Madrid, there is a growing sense in Germany that Kolasinac will end his six-year association with Schalke in the summer.

There is a growing suspicion in Germany that the Bosnia-Herzegovina international may be stalling his contract talks at Schalke in order to push for a move to a bigger club.

Kolasinac, who has missed the last two matches with a torn abductor muscle but has been a mainstay in the Schalke defence this term, has made 30 appearances in all competitions.

The assist machine has also made a huge impact in an attacking sense, netting three goals and laying on seven assists for his teammates.

He has also showed that he can play further forward in a left-sided attacking role and it is this versatility which is increasingly attractive for Tottenham and other clubs.

The Bundesliga ace, who has accumulated 23 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovinia despite representing Germany at youth level, could be the answer for Spurs if Manchester City follow up their reported interest in Danny Rose with a bid that club chiefs cannot refuse.
