Aston Villa have agreed a buy-to-loan deal for Red Star Belgrade right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic after a breakthrough in talks, sources have told Football Insider.

Villa have now reached an 'agreement in principle' with the Serbian giants over the terms of the 18-year-old's transfer.

Nedeljkovic will be purchased by the Midlands giants and loaned back to Red Star for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

He will undergo medical tests with the Premier League club before the deal is finalised.

The right-back, who only turned 18 last month, has been a regular for his boyhood club this season despite his tender age.

He has already racked up 18 senior appearances across all competitions, notching two assists.

Four of those outings came in the Champions League group stage, and Nedeljkovic started in Belgrade as Man City beat Red Star 3-2 in December.

The 6ft right-footer is already capped by Serbia at Under-19 level, scoring one goal in four appearances.

Nedeljkovic, who is primarily a right-back, has also played at centre-back and in right-midfield during his formative years.

Aston Villa already have the likes of Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa at right-back, with the latter replacing the former for recent games.

Calum Chambers is also on the books at Villa Park but has been deemed surplus to requirements this month and could depart before the 1 February deadline.
