Leeds United have no plans to terminate Charlie Cresswell’s loan deal with Millwall in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back, 20, has made a big impact at the New Den since joining in the summer on a season-long agreement.

There have been suggestions that Leeds could recall Cresswell in January to add to their first-team central defensive options.

But it is believed that Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is not planning on pushing to bring Cresswell back to Elland Road at this stage.

United are delighted that the youngster is getting regular game time in the Championship and believe his development is best served by playing regularly there rather than being a squad player at his parent club.

Cresswell has made 15 appearances for Millwall this term and has started the last four games after temporarily losing his place in Gary Rowett’s side.

The England Under-21 youngster was included in the Championship's Team of the Month for November.

He made his Premier League debut for Leeds United with a start against West Ham last season as Marcelo Bielsa juggled a full-blown injury crisis.

Jesse Marsch has had better luck with injuries this term but his rearguard have still managed to leak 26 goals - the third-most in the division.

That record raised questions of a potential recall for Cresswell, who has also contributed four goals for Millwall this term.

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton is also on loan at the Lions and has played 17 league games for the Londoners this term.

The Whites duo will return to action when Millwall face Sunderland on Saturday (3 December).
