Paul Robinson has revealed how he has been blown away by latest Liverpool signing Diogo Jota after his second matchwinning display in days.

The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, said that the 23-year-old faces "a very hard job" securing a regular spot in the first team but insisted that he must "stay fit and focused".

The winger scored his second goal in as many games as Jurgen Klopp's side survived a few scares to beat FC Midtjylland 2-0 and move top of Group D.

Jota signed for the Reds in a £41million deal last month, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract on Merseyside.

He's predominantly been limited to substitute appearances this season, playing understudy to the notorious front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

However, the Portugal international has started and scored in the last two games to leave Robinson impressed.

"Jota has got a very hard job trying to get in ahead of Salah, Firmino and Mane," he told Football Insider.

"He will have realised when he signed that this was not going to be an easy task. It is a mentality thing.

"He has got to stay fit and focused and when he is given his opportunity he needs to take it, like he has done in the past two games. He's been fantastic."
