Sheffield United are set to announce the signing of Jack Robinson after having a bid accepted by Nottingham Forest, Football Insider has learned.

The left-back, 26, has been given the go-ahead to discuss personal terms as he closes in on a permanent move to Bramall Lane.

A United source has told Football Insider that the club have agreed a fee rising to £1million for Robinson with Forest.

They have swooped for him after he lost his starting place as the City Ground ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.

Manager Chris Wilder regards Robinson as capable of providing cover and competition for Enda Stevens, who has been a revelation in the left wing-back role this season.

Robinson has made 19 appearances for Sabri Lamouchi’s team this term, with 18 of  them coming in the Championship.

But he has failed to make the Forest side for five of their last six matches, with Yuri Ribeiro established as the first choice left-back.

The Championship promotion chasers have decided to cash in on Robinson this month rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

Wilder does not have the budget of the majority of his rival Premier League managers and views the EFL as the most likely source of permanent acquisitions.

Liverpool academy product Robinson has made only 3 appearances in the top flight but has played 170 matches in the Championship.
