Tottenham are set to announce the arrival of Fabio Paratici as their new director of football, Football Insider understands.

Spurs have pushed ahead with a deal for the former Juventus transfer chief despite Antonio Conte talks collapsing at the end of last week.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Paratici is packing his bags and will head from Italy to London to start his new role this week.

He has agreed a deal with the Premier League club that will give him overrall responsibility for transfers and contract negotiations.

It will see Spurs return to the director of football model and a two-tier management structure with a head coach rather than a manager, as Mauricio Pochettino was in his final years at the club.

Longstanding chairman Daniel Levy has previously employed Damien Comolli, Frank Arnesen and David Pleat in the role of sporting director.

But he abandoned the strategy in recent years, with former chief scout Steve Hitchen serving as the club’s effective head of recruitment albeit while holding the title of technical performance director.

Paratici has a fine reputation in the game and has spent the last 11 years in various executive roles at Juventus.

Juventus announced last week that his contract would not be renewed and he held a farewell press conference last Friday (4th June).

It remains to be seen how Hitchen will fit into the newly-created set-up at Tottenham as he is effectively pushed down the pecking order.
