Aston Villa are ready to accept an offer for Bertrand Traore in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old does not figure in Unai Emery's plans and the Spaniard has given the green light for the forward to go in the mid-season window.

Traore is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign and will not be offered an extension at Villa Park.

He has played just 41 minutes of action across all competitions so far this season after coming off the bench on five occasions.

The Burkina Faso international had failed to appear in six straight Premier League games but broke that streak with a one-minute cameo in the 3-1 win over Luton on Sunday (29 October).

Traore has made 13 appearances since Emery arrived at Villa Park in November 2022 - notching two goals and one assist.

The Spaniard chose to recall him from a loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir in January but the forward has still featured sparingly for Villa.

He joined the Midlands giants from Lyon for a reported fee of £17million in 2020.

The 28-year-old, who earns a reported wage of almost £78,000-a-week, has managed just 10 goals and eight assists for Aston Villa since then.

Traore primarily plays on the right flank but can also operate effectively as a striker.

The likes of Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby and Jacob Ramsey have all been preferred to him in wide areas since Emery's appointment.

Aston Villa sit fifth in the Premier League after 10 games after beating Luton on Sunday (29 October).

They are next in action against Nottingham Forest on 5 November.
