Brighton are now the frontrunners to sign Leeds United star Tyler Adams after his Chelsea move collapsed, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (12 August) that Adams’ move to Stamford Bridge fell through even after he completed a medical.

That development came after another twist in Chelsea's British-record pursuit of Moises Caicedo – which now looks set to be completed in the coming days.

Adams has returned to Elland Road for the time being, but Premier League clubs are still keen to trigger his reported £20million release clause.

Brighton are very much in the market for a new midfield signing this summer as they brace to lose Caicedo to Chelsea.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Seagulls are "big admirers" of Adams and are now exploring a potential deal for the United States international.

The former RB Leipzig star, who was relegated with Leeds at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, is currently out injured and hasn't played since March.

He was initially expected to be out until the end of September with the hamstring problem he sustained last term.

However, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (3 August) that the combative midfielder could now return to action before the end of August after making good progress in his recovery.

Adams made 26 appearances for Leeds across all competitions last season.

Brighton

The Whites are facing an exodus of players following relegation to the Championship, with nine already quitting - and even more keen on leaving the club.

Brighton, who will play Europa League football this term, started the 2023-24 campaign with a convincing 4-1 win over Luton Town on Saturday (12 August).
