Celtic are confident new signing Mohamed Elyounoussi will "terrorise" their opponents this season, Football Insider understands.

The Hoops coaching staff have had an opportunity to get acquainted with the Norway winger, 25, during the international break as he was not away playing for his country.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider there is great excitement among Neil Lennon and his backroom team about the potential of Elyounoussi and the added threat he will bring to their attack.

Elyounoussi has been working hard on his fitness behind the scenes at Lennoxtown as the coaching staff get him up to speed after he was frozen out at Southampton at the start of the campaign.

The source explained there is confidence the on-loan Southampton ace can "terrorise" full-backs and defences with his dynamic attacking play.

The 24-times international is in line to make his Celtic debut in Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash against Hamilton, although Lennon might not feel he is yet fit enough to start.

Elyounoussi has been signed to play on the left wing, where he he has had great success as a goalscorer and creator for former clubs Basel and Molde.

In the 2017-18 season for the Swiss club, the attacker scored 13 goals and supplied 17 assists from 44 matches in all competitions.

Celtic's first choice wide men this season have been James Forrest and Mikey Johnston, but it has been confirmed the 20-year-old is set to be sidelined for a few weeks with a groin injury.
