Celtic are in the market for a new senior goalkeeper this summer as they look to offload Vasilis Barkas, Football Insider understands.

The 27-year-old has been frozen out at Parkhead in recent months after slipping to third in the club’s keeper pecking order,

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Barkas has been told he is free to find a new club and his camp are working on securing a permanent transfer.

The Hoops are prepared to accept a major loss on the £4.5million signing from AEK Athens in the summer of 2020.

He is out of contract at Bodo in December and they will cash in this summer if their valuation of around £500,000 is met.

The shot-stopper, 26, was outstanding during the Norweigan side's run to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.

Barkas has played just 180 minutes all season, with Joe Hart and Scott Bain both ahead of the Greece international in the Parkhead pecking order.

The shot-stopper has just 24 total Celtic appearances to his name after his arrival in 2020.

He started nine of his first 10 league games in Glasgow but was quickly displaced by Bain.

Sheffield United reportedly (25 January, Scottish Daily Mail print edition p.79) walked away from signing Barkas on loan due to Celtic's unreasonable financial demands.

Celtic are on course to regain the Scottish Premiership crown if they can avoid any slip-ups in the final four games of the season.

The Hoops have already lifted the Scottish League Cup this term.
