Everton are preparing a bid for Wolves attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, Football Insider understands.

The Merseysiders are stepping up their plans to revamp their squad following the £50million-plus sale of Richarlison to Tottenham.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that manager Frank Lampard is in the market for an attacker who can score and create goals.

He believes Gibbs-White, 22, fits the bill after his stellar loan campaign for Sheffield United in the Championship, where he scored 13 goals and supplied a further 10.

The Merseysiders are ready to make their move in the face of competition from Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Crystal Palace.

Gibbs-White scored in the second leg of the play-off semi-final in 2021-22, with the Blades ultimately knocked out on penalties by Forest.

The England Under-21 playmaker, who is under contract with Wolves until 2024, is capable of operating in a number of midfield roles and has already played 46 times in the top flight.

Everton announced their first signing of the summer last Saturday (2 July) in the form of James Tarkowski, who joined on a free transfer after the expiry of his Burnley contract.
