Huddersfield Town have reached a full agreement over the signing of Ipswich Town striker Tyreece Simpson, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club have had a bid of around £500,000 accepted by Ipswich for the 20-year-old.

Huddersfield have agreed terms with Simpson and the deal is now expected to be completed imminently.

It is regarded as a major coup for the Terriers as a number of other Championship clubs have expressed an interest in the young forward.

Simpson caught the eye after scoring 11 goals and providing a further three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions while on loan at Swindon Town in League Two last season.

He has only played seven times for Ipswich and has not featured this season amid speculation over his future.

The Englishman only has a year left to run on his contract at his boyhood club.

Huddersfield Town are in desperate need of a striker with Jordan Rhodes and Danny Ward their only senior centre-forwards.

The Yorkshire club currently sit second from bottom in the Championship after winning just one game all season.

Carlos Corberan quit the club in a surprise move just before the campaign started after guiding them to the play-off final last term and Danny Schofield is currently in charge.

They are next in action on Wednesday (31 August) when they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City.
