Sources: Leeds in new talks to agree Paintsil deal
Leeds United will hold new talks with Genk over a deal to sign forward Joseph Paintsil, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship side have had a bid rejected for the wide attacker, 25, after being convinced they would meet the Belgian club's asking price.
But Leeds have not given up hope of a deal and negotiations are continuing to secure an agreement.
It is thought that Paintsil is keen to complete a move to Elland Road.
He can play as either a left-sided winger or an attacking midfielder and scored 18 goals in 39 matches for Genk in all competitions last season.
Paintsil's current contract runs until 2026 after he signed an extension last summer.
The attacker arrived at Genk in 2018 from Ghanian side Tema Youth after spending a season on loan with Ferencvaros.
The Ghana international has made 143 appearances across all competitions for Genk since his arrival five years ago.
Paintsil has scored 53 goals and offered up 32 assists in those outings.
Leeds have lost a number of players following their relegation from the Premier League last term including Rodrigo and Jack Harrison from their attacking options.
The Whites have already confirmed (24 August) the signing of Joel Piroe from Swansea City in an effort to strengthen their attacking lineup.
United had a long-standing interest in the striker and they attempted to sign in last year's summer transfer window before getting a deal over the line second time around.
