Leeds United are planning multiple loan signings this month as the race for promotion to the Premier League hots up, sources have told Football Insider.

Djed Spence has recently returned to Tottenham after his season-long loan at Elland Road was cut short - freeing up another space in the squad and creating a vacancy at right-back.

Daniel Farke's side already have Joe Rodon and Jaidon Anthony at the club on temporary deals but are planning more January signings to boost the odds of a top-two finish.

Robin Koch has already agreed a long-term switch to Eintracht Frankfurt and the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Jack Harrison, Rasmus Kristensen and more are also away from Elland Road on temporary deals.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds are not likely to sanction any big transfer outlays this month - regardless of the money they bring in through sales.

The Whites sit fourth in the Championship table after a shaky run of recent form.

Farke's side are four points behind third-place Southampton and seven behind second-place Ipswich - while league leaders Leicester have pulled out a lead of 17 points on the Yorkshire giants.

The Saints and Tractor Boys are both planning signings of their own this month - with the latter already wrapping up a loan deal for Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento.

Crysencio Summerville is the Whites' top scorer with 12 goals in the second tier this term.

Leeds travel to Cardiff in their next fixture on Saturday (13 January).
