Sources: Leeds will not make any more January signings

Leeds’ hopes of signing a new striker before the close of the transfer window are over with the club not having enough money in their budget to bring in a forward, Football Insider sources understand.

Leeds were in the market for a new striker this month, but any new forward arrival now appears highly unlikely.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds do not plan to make anymore signings and will only act to bring in a goalkeeper on loan should Andy Lonergan move to Sunderland.

Leeds have signed central defender Aapo Halme, midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi and left-back Laurens De Bock, midfielder Adam Forshaw and young striker Sam Dalby this month and it is understood the club have used up most of their budget on those signings.

Forshaw was the biggest outlay at £4.5m from Middlesbrough, while De Bock was a £1.5m signing from Club Brugge.

The news of Leeds’ lack of funds will come as a major blow to Thomas Christiansen’s plans to try and win promotion back to the Premier League this season.
