Mason Mount's priority is to compete for trophies and play regularly as Liverpool continue to lead the race for the Chelsea star, sources have told Football Insider.

European qualification could also be a factor in the 24-year-old's summer destination - with the midfielder keen to play at the highest level.

Liverpool could be forced to settle for Europa League qualification this season - while Chelsea are set to miss out entirely.

Other Premier League sides, such as Arsenal, Newcastle and Man United are continuing to monitor the England international's situation with a resolution expected this summer.

Each of those clubs will be hoping to use their likely Champions League qualification to turn the tide in the fight for the 24-year-old's signature.

Mount is out of contract at Chelsea in June 2024 and has turned down renewal offers as he believes he should be earning on par with the club's highest-paid stars.

The former Derby and Vitesse loanee has made just one appearance in the last seven league fixtures after a breakdown in contract negotiations earlier this year - and could now miss the rest of the season through injury.

He has managed three goals and six assists in 35 appearances this term in a dismal season for Chelsea - who sit 11th in the Premier League.
