Liverpool are doing their due diligence on a potential move for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds are sounding out a possible swoop for the 20-year-old as speculation ramps up about his contract situation in Bavaria.

Musiala is widely considered one of the best young players in Europe, with one recruitment source branding the Germany international a "potential world beater".

Liverpool

Liverpool have been alerted to his possible availability as the player negotiates a new deal at Bayern.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Musiala is frustrated about not being a regular starter in Thomas Tuchel's side despite his lofty potential.

His current deal at the Allianz Arena, which nets him a reported £83,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2026.

Musiala has started just two Bundesliga games so far this season.

He has made eight appearances in the 2023-24 campaign, notching one goal and two assists.

The 20-year-old was more involved as Bayern won the Bundesliga last term, notching 16 goals and 16 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

He scored the decisive goal in the 2-1 victory against Koln which secured the league title from under the noses of Borussia Dortmund.

Musiala has lifted four Bundesliga titles since breaking through at senior level.

Liverpool

He made his senior debut in June 2020 and has gone on to notch 32 goals and 25 assists in 133 games for Bayern.

The youngster was a trainee at Southampton and Chelsea, and played for England up to Under-21 level - before switching his allegiance to Germany.
