Man City are very close to completing the signing of Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken personally to the 21-year-old about his imminent move.

Doku has already agreed personal terms with the treble-winning side.

The winger is being targetted as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who completed a big-money move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal earlier in the window.

Mahrez notched 15 goals and 13 assists in 47 games for Man City in a famous 2022-23 campaign.

Doku, like the Algeria international, plays on the right flank for Stade Rennais and has proved an exciting talent since making his breakthrough.

The youngster opened his account for the new season against Metz on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season but was a substitute against Lens on Sunday (20 August) ahead of his imminent move.

Last season, the jet-heeled winger notched seven goals and four assists in 35 club appearances.

Doku is under contract until June 2025 after joining from Anderlecht in 2020.

He is a regular for his native Belgium and burst onto the scene with some memorable performances at Euro 2020.

The starlet has scored twice in 14 caps for the Red Devils.

Man City

Man City have picked up maximum points from their first two Premier League games against Burnley and Newcastle this term.

The Citizens also lifted the UEFA Super Cup last week after beating Sevilla on penalties.
