Sergio Aguero has agreed personal terms with Barcelona as he closes in on a free transfer from Man City, Football Insider has learned.

A Spanish source has told Football Insider that Barcelona are dead set on signing Aguero, 32, even if they sack Ronald Koeman as manager.

He has already accepted a contract offer from the club and is expected to be confirmed as a new signing when the season finishes.

It is said that Lionel Messi has made the capture of Aguero a key condition of him signing a blockbuster new Barcelona contract this summer.

Messi has huge sway at the club where he has spent his entire career and his influence is likely to be key to other potential signings.

Football Insider revealed earlier today (Wednesday) that Georginio Wijnaldum's potential free transfer to Barcelona faces collapse if Koeman loses his job.

The Dutchman has been the driving force to bringing his countryman to Camp Nou this summer.

Barcelona are in the market for at least one senior striker signing after failing to adequately replace Luis Suarez when he joined Atletico Madrid last summer.

City announced in March that Aguero will leave when his contract expires at the end of June.

The club's record goalscorer has been a bit-part figure at Etihad Stadium this season but his place in City folklore is long secure.

He has scored a remarkable 258 goals in 388 appearances for the club and has also been capped 97 times by Argentina.
