Sources: Man United agree terms with Martin Dubravka as new bid tabled
Man United have agreed personal terms with Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League giants are close to finalising the capture of the Slovakia international, 33, as they work on landing a back-up to David de Gea.
United have offered a loan-to-buy deal for Dubravka that would see him joining for £5million at the end of the season.
The keeper has told Newcastle he is keen to head to Old Trafford after losing his place to summer signing Nick Pope.
The former Burnley man has started Newcastle's first three Premier League matches of the season and, tellingly, Karl Darlow was preferred in goal for the midweek League Cup win over Tranmere Rovers with Mark Gillespie on the bench.
Newcastle have told Dubravka he is free to go but would prefer a permanent transfer to a loan-to-buy, and United are readying an improved offer.
The Slovakia has agreed the structure of a contract that would become full-time at the end of the season, as well as at any time if he makes a certain number of appearances.
United want a top-class keeper to deputise for main man De Gea, who is the undisputed number one.
Tom Heaton has been on the bench for the opening three matches of the campaign following Dean Henderson's loan move to Nottingham Forest.
Dubravka has the experience and proven Premier League calibre that United chiefs believe is vital.
He has made 130 appearances for Newcastle since signing in the summer of 2018 on an initial loan deal.
