Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has agreed the terms of a new long-term contract, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League giants have moved quickly to extend the deal of the 22-year-old, which expires next year, following his impressive season on loan at Sheffield United.

A United source has told Football Insider the club have high hopes for Henderson and are convinced he has a big future at the club.

The new deal will commit the United academy product to the club in the long term and include a major pay hike as a reward for the progress he has made since his promotion to senior football.

Henderson has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship and Shrewsbury Town in League One, and was the established number one at both clubs.

He started all 46 of the Blades' league matches in the recently-completed domestic season as they secured automatic promotion to the top flight.

United are keen for Henderson to spend another campaign out on loan and it's likely he will rejoin Chris Wilder's team later in the summer.

Meanwhile, the 20-times league winners remain in talks with David de Gea over a new contract ahead of his deal expiring in the summer of 2020.
