Sources: Man United have agreed new signing to be unveiled on 1 July
Man United have finalised the signing of Tom Heaton from Aston Villa but he will not be unveiled until 1st July, Football Insider has learned.
This site revealed on Thursday (13th May) that United were in talks to sign the goalkeeper, 35, after offering him a player-coach role.
A United source has told Football Insider that the deal was wrapped up last month but Heaton will not undergo his medical until later in June.
He will then be announced as a new Man United signing on a two-year contract with the option of a third year.
It will see the 35-year-old take on the role of third goalkeeper at Old Trafford next season.
At the moment, that would see him as back up to Dean Henderson and David de Gea, but there is still the prospect that the Spaniard leave.
Football Insider revealed on 12th March that United's plan this summer was to sign two senior goalkeepers.
But the problem is finding a buyer for De Gea, whose huge salary, widely reported to be worth £350,000-a-week, is out of reach for all but a handful of buyers.
The Premier League giants have moved for Heaton as a replacement for Sergio Romero, who is leaving when his contract expires next month.
