Newcastle United have ended their interest in Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney with a deal for Chelsea's Lewis Hall all but done, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies have held extensive talks this summer with Tierney's camp about a potential move.

But Newcastle's interest in the 26-year-old Scotland international has evaporated after they chose to press ahead with a deal for 18-year-old Hall.

Arsenal could now choose to keep Tierney at the club beyond next month's transfer deadline.

The Gunners had been open to losing the left-back this summer but Jurrien Timber's serious knee injury has complicated the former Celtic star's future.

Mikel Arteta's side revealed on Wednesday (16 August) that Timber has sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

As such, it is believed Arsenal could now reverse their stance on letting Tierney leave the club this summer.

The 26-year-old Scot was omitted from the matchday squad for the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest despite being fit to take part.

He notched one goal and two assists in 36 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, but started in just 15 of those outings.

Newcastle

Tierney joined the club from Celtic in 2019 for a reported fee of £25million and has racked up 124 total games at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have reportedly agreed a deal to loan Chelsea's Hall with an obligation to buy clause becoming active next summer (2024).
