Portsmouth have offered winger Reeco Hackett-Fairchild a new contract, Football Insider understands.

Hackett-Fairchild, who is currently recovering from a knee injury he picked up last month which ruled him out for the rest of the season, is out of contract at the League One club at the end of June.

A Portsmouth source has told Football Insider that manager Danny Cowley is keen to secure the former Charlton man on a new deal at Fratton Park as he plans ahead for next season.

The 24-year-old was enjoying his best campaign for Pompey prior to his injury, chipping in with five goals and three assists in all competitions.

He was in and out the starting XI, with 21 starts in 34 appearances.

The winger suffered knee ligament damage in the 3-3 draw with Fleetwood at the end of February.

As revealed by Cowley, Hackett-Fairchild avoided the need for surgery but was ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

As quoted by The News, the Pompey boss confirmed the club hold an optional clause to extend the attacker's contract.

However, Portsmouth have offered Hackett-Fairchild a new deal in a bid to entice him to stay.

He joined the south coast outfit from Bromley in January 2020 after triggering his release clause.

The versatile forward made his debut for Pompey a day after signing.

He returned to Bromley on loan for the first half of the 2020/21 season before joining Southend temporarily in January.
