Rangers are in advanced contract talks with Robbie Ure, sources have told Football Insider.

The 18-year-old's camp met Ibrox officials last week for the latest set of negotiations and they are progressing well.

All parties are confident a full agreement over a long-term deal is now close and can be finalised soon.

His current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2023.

Ure made his first-team debut in last week’s (30 August) Scottish League Cup win over Queen of the South and he marked it with a goal.

The teenager opened the scoring in a 3-1 win with a close-range strike with Glen Kamara providing the assist.

Sources told Football Insider the day after the game (31 August) that the Gers were set to open talks with Ure over a new long-term contract.

The Glasgoweigan has been promoted to the first-team set-up this season after impressing in the youth teams and was on the bench for the 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in Champions League qualifying last month (24 August).

He already has two goals and three assists in the Lowland League for the club's B team.

Rangers are focusing on securing their brightest young talents to new deals after the close of the transfer window.
