Rangers will not entertain any January offers for goalkepeer Jack Butland amid interest from Birmingham City, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues, who have recently appointed Wayne Rooney as their new manager, have set their sights on bringing Butland, 30, back to the club as part of the exciting project at St Andrews.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider there is "no chance" of the ex-England international making that move in the January window.

Furthermore, it is believed Butland is happy at Ibrox and is enjoying life in Glasgow following his summer arrival on a free transfer.

Sources say the player is "happy to stay" at Rangers and is quickly becoming a fan favourite at the club.

Rangers are not willing to entertain any January offers for the shot-stopper despite the interest from Birmingham.

Butland has already racked up seven clean sheets in 16 total appearances for the Gers since his arrival.

He has played every minute of every match for the Ibrox side, including in the Europa League group stage.

The former Stoke and Crystal Palace man penned a four-year contract at the club upon his arrival in the summer.

Rangers had been trailing Butland for over a year and initially considered moving for him last summer (2022) before Allan McGregor chose to prolong his playing career.

The 30-year-old has racked up nine caps for England, making his last Three Lions appearance in 2018.

Philippe Clement's side sit second in the Scottish Premiership but are already seven points adrift of Celtic.

The Ibrox club face Hibernian on Saturday (21 October) before travelling to Sparta Prague in the Europa League next Thursday (26 October).
