Tottenham are readying a shock last-gasp bid to prise Conor Gallagher from Chelsea before the January window closes, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources revealed to Football Insider that Spurs will now revive their interest in the 23-year-old after failing to sign Man City ace Kalvin Phillips this month and struggling to bring in the midfielder Ange Postecoglou wants.

Sources had previously told Football Insider (19 January) that a move for Gallagher had collapsed, but Tottenham are now expected to make another move after Phillips' loan to West Ham was confirmed on Friday (26 January).

Postecoglou's side had been eager to bring in the wantaway Man City ace, but the £6million loan fee and the need to cover a large portion of his wages was deemed too expensive.

It is believed that the Lilywhites have been long-term admirers of England international Gallagher despite the scarcity of deals between the two London rivals.

They have held talks with Chelsea over a deal this month but the west Londoners want £80million in total for player, who is out of contract in 18 months.

He has been a mainstay for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, racking up six assists across 27 appearances in all competitions.

Tottenham have prioritised bringing in a new central midfielder this month and remain hopeful of securing one more player after the permanent addition of Radu Dragusin and the loan signing of Timo Werner.
