West Ham have made an approach to sign Sparta Prague striker Adam Hlozek, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The striker, 19, is a top target for the Irons ahead of the January window as they look to strengthen their forward line.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that West Ham enquired about Hlozek and what it could take to agree a deal with Sparta as they look to win the race for his signature.

West Ham

The London outfit face strong competition for Hlozek from rival Premier League as well as European clubs.

It is believed it would take a bid of £16-20million to sign the forward in the mid-season window.

He has been shortlisted as a target by Liverpool, as first revealed by Football Insider on 22nd April, with Jurgen Klopp's title challengers monitoring him ahead of and during the recent summer.

David Moyes has admitted he is in the market for a number nine who can provide an alternative to first choice Michail Antonio.

West Ham could have an advantage as they have had huge success in the Czech market in recent seasons through the captures of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

Hlozek has emerged as the latest hot property from the Czech Republic and has already been capped 12 times by his country.

Hlozek has played 111 times for Sparta and scored 33 times as well as provided 33 assists since graduating from their youth ranks.

He missed a big chunk of last domestic season with a broken foot but still scored 15 goals and provided nine assists from 23 matches.

The teenager has been more of a goal creator this term, with a hugely impressive 12 assists supplementing his five goals from 26 games.
