Bayern Munich star Harry Kane has been linked with a stunning return to Tottenham after a clause in his contract has been revealed.

Kane left Tottenham to join Bayern Munich in a £100million deal in the summer of 2023.

Football Insider revealed on 26 September Tottenham are planning a move to re-sign Kane as they look to play on his heart strings.

The England international has a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract, allowing him to leave for £54m in January 2026.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the fee would be “enormous" for a player of Kane’s age after he turned 32 in July.

Harry Kane's Tottenham wage demands revealed

Thomas Frank revealed he would welcome Kane returning to Tottenham, where the striker could break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

However, Kane admitted he isn’t currently considering leaving Bayern Munich following the speculation around his future.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Kane’s situation, Borson said: “He's still brilliant, but what's he going to be like next season?

“And players of his age, they can fall off a cliff very quickly. If he's going to come back, the fee is going to be enormous relative for a player of his age.

“He's going to be on massive wages, probably £25m a year. He's going to want at least a two-year contract to come back, probably three. I mean, it's a very expensive deal to get things going.”

Kane has registered 100 goals and 29 assists in 104 appearances since joining Bayern Munich.

Kane could agree Tottenham return under new investor

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with a takeover deal following the exit of Daniel Levy in recent weeks.

Speaking about whether that could have any impact on Kane’s situation, Borson said: “I think if somebody comes in with very deep pockets where they just literally don't care about the £100m they're going to spend because it's all part of this kind of launch money, then obviously that fits perfectly, especially if he'd won something major this season.

“If he'd won the Champions League this season let's say, so he'd done it all.”

Frank’s side have had a reasonable start to the new season after picking up 11 points from their opening six Premier League games.
