Saido Berahino could leave West Brom on a free transfer next month just 18 months after Tottenham tabled a £22million bid for him, according to reports.

The Sun claim the forward, 23, will speak to European clubs in January amid interest from Nice, Roma and Inter Milan.

He is able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in the January window as his West Brom contract expires next summer.

West Brom would be able to command a massive compensation fee if Berahino joined an English club when his contract runs out as he is a product of the Hawthorns academy and they are entitled to development costs.

Liverpool were ordered by a tribunal to pay Burnley up to £8million in compensation for Danny Ings earlier this year, and West Brom could expect to receive a similar amount for Berahino.

But the Midlands club would get nothing, bar a fixed Fifa sum of £300,000, if the former England Under-21 international was to move to a foreign club.

This comes after Tottenham made concerted bids to sign the striker in the windows of January of this year and the summer of last year.

The Mirror claim that Spurs made three bids for Berahino in 2015, with the final one amounting to £22million, but West Brom refused to sell him.

Berahino has been a bit-part figure for Tony Pulis' side this season, scoring just one goal in seven matches for the club.
