Francesco Guidolin will agree a new three-year Swansea contract within 24 hours, according to Sky Sports News.

The Italian is set to be handed an extension to his short-term deal after overseeing a revival since taking the helm in January.

Sky Sports News report that Swansea will ratify the new agreement for Guidolin, 60, at a board meeting on Wednesday.

Guidolin joined when they were just two points above the relegation zone but he has guided them to 11th place in the Premier League.

Guidolin's current deal runs out after the Manchester City game this Sunday and it was initially reported he would leave after spending most of the season near the Premier League relegation zone.

But Swansea have won six of their last ten games, including a 4-1 thrashing of West Ham United last weekend, and the club's board are now ready to keep the faith with the Italian.

The former Udinese manager has also guided Swansea to notable victories over Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool since his appointment in January, with the club still in with a chance of a top-ten finish.

The players have voiced their support for the Italian and a growing section of the fanbase believe he has earned a chance to carry on his work.

"He has brought exactly what he thought he would bring to us," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, as quoted by the Telegraph. "He has adjusted in his time here, he has got to know the squad and got used to the Premier League.

"We have got our normal monthly board meeting on Wednesday and yes, we will be discussing the managerial situation.

"We will talk about the season we have had, where we have finished and what we feel we need in the summer."
