West Ham have placed Tammy Abraham on their wanted list as the club looks for a new striker, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Irons owners are looking to financially back their new manager.

A new striker cannot be ruled out for West Ham before the 31st August cut-off, and Abraham is a high priority.

However, the Hammers will need to clear some debts by selling players before they can make a move for the Roma star.

Danny Ings has been mentioned as a name who the club could look to move on to facilitate this deal.

The belief at West Ham is that adding Abraham to the squad would provide Lopetegui with a “good forward line” for this season.

West Ham could slot Tammy Abraham straight into the team

Despite the fact he’s making his way back from injury, Abraham is seen as a good option due to his Premier League experience.

The England international played 89 times in the Premier League for Chelsea, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists.

His experience in the division means that he could slot straight into Julen Lopetegui’s starting lineup.

West Ham

West Ham had been trying to sign Jhon Duran throughout summer, but the deal collapsed as they couldn’t reach an agreement with Aston Villa.

That situation came back to bite the Hammers as Duran scored the winner against them in the season’s opener.
