Tottenham are set to allow young defender Alfie Dorrington out on loan as League Two side Salford City eye a Deadline Day move.

Dorrington spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, but struggled for regular game time as he made 14 appearances in all competitions.

He started just three league games as the Dons struggled under Jimmy Thelin, in a stark contrast to his successful spell at the club last term, when he was key to their success.

Spurs fans fumed at Dorrington being recalled last month, with the club criticised for handling their loan players poorly during a tough period both on and off the pitch.

The 20-year-old has not forced his way into Thomas Frank's thinking over the last few weeks, and so now looks set to leave on loan once more.

Tottenham looking to agree Dorrington loan deal with Salford

Dorrington has only featured once for Tottenham's first team so far, after he came off the bench against Southampton in the Premier League last season.

He is now seeking regular game time in the EFL, with the Mail reporting that Spurs are looking to loan Dorrington out to League Two outfit Salford for the rest of the season.

Karl Robinson's side are currently chasing automatic promotion in the fourth tier, sitting in third place with 52 points after a run of five wins from their last six games.

Tottenham could complete last-minute deal to sign Jhon Duran

Tottenham fans will want to hear of potential incomings rather than outgoings as the 7pm deadline looms, with clear aims to challenge for European qualification in the latter stages of the campaign.

There has been talk of Randal Kolo-Muani being recalled by PSG to join Juventus, with the club left searching for possible replacements if that deal comes to fruition.

A new report from Turkey has suggested that Fenerbahce striker Duran has been offered to Tottenham, as well as Crystal Palace and Leeds, by his parent club Al-Nassr.

The former Aston Villa striker has scored five goals in 21 appearances for the Super Lig giants this season, and could well find himself back in the Premier League just over a year since he left the Second City for Saudi Arabia.
