Tottenham are ready to blow Arsenal away as a formal Eberechi Eze bid is set to be submitted.

Eze has been linked with Spurs and Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window as the north London rivals look to strengthen their attacking options.

The Gunners appeared to be leading the race for the England international, but Tottenham are now firmly back in the running.

There was some surprise after Arsenal decided not to activate Eze’s release clause before it expired earlier this month.

The 27-year-old was available for £68million, but the deadline is believed to have passed on 1 August, forcing any interested parties to negotiate a price with Palace if they want to secure a deal.

It is understood Selhurst Park chiefs are holding out for a fee in that region to sell Eze before the transfer deadline on 1 September.

Tottenham ready Eberechi Eze offer after crushing blow

Tottenham are now back in the mix to sign Eze following the serious injury James Maddison suffered earlier this month in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old is set to miss the majority of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, leaving Spurs looking for a new attacking midfielder.

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe reported on 14 August Thomas Frank’s side are now preparing their first official bid to sign Eze.

Spurs are clearly ready to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal to win the race for the Palace star this summer.

However, it is understood Mikel Arteta's side are yet to submit a bid for Eze, so they will have a decision to make once the Tottenham offer goes in.

Man City wanted to agree Eberechi Eze deal

The north London rivals are not the only clubs to have been linked with Eze in recent times, with Manchester City and Newcastle United previously registering their interest.

It’s no real surprise after the attacking midfielder has been a standout player for Palace in recent years.

He registered 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances last season, including the winning strike in the FA Cup final against Man City in May.

Eze’s impressive campaign took his overall contribution for Palace to 40 goals and 28 assists in 168 outings since making the move to south London from QPR for £19.5million in 2020.

Tottenham are now set to ramp up their pursuit with an official bid, but it remains to be seen how much the Eagles are willing to accept for their prize asset this summer.
