Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has backed Tottenham to launch a mega-money transfer spree once new investment is secured.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed "now is the time" for Spurs to ensure they can challenge for the top four with a squad overhaul.

The Times reported last week (27 July) that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in talks to sell a minority stake in a deal that could value the club at up to £3.75 billion.

It is claimed around 10% of the club could be sold to bring in new investment.

Tottenham, who finished fifth in the Premier League last term, have already signed Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall this summer.

Postecoglou to be given big slice of '£500m' Tottenham investment, says Wyness

Wyness claimed around "£300-500million" could be brought in through a new investor, with a significant portion of that set to be given to Ange Postecoglou and his transfer team.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “They want money, as I understand it, to increase the value of the squad and put some top players in.

“They’ve always been a bit too canny on player wages in the past, so I think now is the time to push and ensure they’re in the top four.

“That’s the beauty of the Premier League - the top clubs have to keep investing.

“You can’t always do it on a budget like Daniel Levy has managed so far.

“Spurs, with another £300-500million from a minority investor - they may decrease the debt and give Ange the rest.

“That would be a good strategy. Spurs would be very well-poised for the future.”
