Revealed: Update on Leeds last-gasp Todd Cantwell potential move after bid
Leeds United are not expected to test Norwich City with a last-gasp move for Todd Cantwell before the window closes this evening, Football Insider has learned.
The Premier League club submitted a £15million bid for the attacking midfielder last month and have subsequently been in contact with the Championship club over a potential deal.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Norwich are confident Cantwell, 22, will still be at Carrow Road after the Friday 5pm deadline.
Cantwell was axed from the Norwich squad for their two league matches before the international break.
Manager Daniel Farke also went public to criticise the attacking midfielder's productivity and attitude.
That appeared to pave the way for a late-window departure, especially with the player himself eager to return to the Premier League.
Leeds have been put off by Norwich's asking price of £20m for their academy product.
United have already spent big this summer and added to their expenditure with the signing of right-sided attacker Raphinha in a deal rising to £21m on the final day of the international window last week.
Leeds are reluctant to commit to more spending after their £100m summer spree also included blockbuster deals for Rodrigo Moreno, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.
Cantwell has two years remaining on his contract at Carrow Road after renewing terms in July 2019.
The versatile attacker made 40 appearances in all competitions last season that yielded an impressive seven goals and two assists.
