Rangers are keen to make Vaclav Cerny's loan move permanent and are plotting a summer move, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has impressed at Ibrox after joining on a temporary basis from Wolfsburg in the summer window.

Cerny has become a key man for manager Philippe Clement, who has been under pressure throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

Rangers are keen to sign him on a permanent basis but will have to wait until the summer to make their move as they currently cannot afford a deal.

The Ibrox club were unable to negotiate an option to buy with Wolfsburg when they agreed the loan in the off-season.

Czechia international Cerny has been virtually ever-present under Clement on the right wing this term.

He has made 30 appearances across all competitions for Rangers this term, notching 10 goals and seven assists.

Rangers will pursue Cerny deal this summer

Cerny has started in 16 of his 18 appearances in the Scottish Premiership and has been a key figure for the Gers in their Europa League campaign.

Clement's side sit eighth in the league phase standings and are well-placed to progress to the knockout stages.

Rangers

Wolfsburg have Cerny under contract until June 2027.

He left the Bundesliga outfit after making 25 appearances and scoring five goals for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side last term.
