'My dream move' - Vinnie Jones reveals how close he was to signing for Rangers
Vinnie Jones has admitted he would have "loved" to have played for Rangers and he came close to a move to Ibrox in the 1990s. The now Hollywood actor and former Wimbledon hardman made the revelation during an interview on the
radio show, broadcast on Wednesday at 06:00 with Alan Brazil and Joey Barton. Jones stated that he was very close to a move north of the border during Graeme Souness' time in charge at Ibrox - early in the nine-in-a-row days - but that a transfer did not materialise despite
being held and the Gers went for Millwall's Terry Hurlock instead. Speaking directly to Barton, who himself played for the Light Blues, the 53-year-old said
: “You had my dream move – I’d have loved to have played up there." The midfielder also poked fun at Barton, who left the club under a cloud after his contract was terminated less than six months into a move to Ibrox back in 2016 following a fall-out with the then manager Mark Warburton, saying: “I think you were hard done by there Joey, to be fair son.” Rangers could not be further from those nine-in-a-row days with their Old Firm rivals Celtic on their own run of consecutive championship victories. Such an achievement looks a lifetime away for the Rangers faithful, who only last weekend were beaten at home by Hibernian. In other Rangers news, 'Not acceptable' -
