Sources: Southampton bid accepted by PL giants as deal edges close
Kyle Walker-Peters has agreed to join Southampton after Tottenham accepted their loan bid, Football Insider can reveal.
The right-back, 22, is heading to the south coast for the rest of the season after, as first revealed by Football Insider last Friday, Ralph Hasenhuttl's side leapfrogged Crystal Palace in the race for him.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the terms of the loan have been agreed with Southampton for Walker-Peters and the player has given the green light to the move.
There is not expected to be a permanent option included in the transfer as the two clubs could not agree on a fee.
Discussions are now taking place over how much of Walker-Peters- wages are paid by Southampton before the deal is signed off.
Spurs would rather offload their academy product on a permanent deal than a loan.
But Southampton have refused to meet the Londoners' £15million asking price for a player who has made just 24 first-team appearances and last played a Premier League match in August.
Walker-Peters, who has a contract that has three-and-a-half years remaining, is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.
The defender was once again absent from the Tottenham squad for their 1-1 FA Cup draw against Southampton last Saturday.
Walker-Peters has also not had a single minute of Premier League action since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, who has started Serge Aurier in every match in the competition.
