West Brom have had a bid accepted by Basel for centre-forward Albian Ajeti but he has his heart set on joining West Ham, Football Insider understands.

The Championship big hitters have offered around £8million for the prolific Switzerland international but have not come come to an agreement with the player.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider the club have matched Basel's asking price for the 22-year-old but he has his doubts about moving to a second-tier outfit.

A West Ham source explained that the Londoners have been told Ajeti wants to join Manuel Pellegrini's side but they are still some way from getting a deal done.

Brentford are also keen on Ajeti as they look to replace Neal Maupay, who signed for Brighton for £20million yesterday.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier today, West Ham have tabled a bid of £4.5million for Ajeti, which is £3.5million short of Basel's valuation.

The Swiss club are ready to cash in on their prize asset in the final 72 hours of the summer window.

Ajeti has an impressive goalscoring record for his club, scoring 21 times from 43 matches last season and 43 in 96 appearances in total.
