West Ham have lodged an improved offer of £5million for Hull attacking midfielder Robert Snodgrass, according to a report.

Sky Sports have claimed on their website that the London-based club have made a fresh attempt to land the Scotland international after their opening bid of £3million was rejected last week.

The new offer for Snodgrass is an increase of £2million for a player who recently revealed that he has rejected the offer of a new contract from Hull.

It is a further demonstration of West Ham's attempts to beef up their squad following an underwhelming first half of the campaign.

Slaven Bilic's side, who have high hopes of a top-ten finish, are 13th in the Premier League table and just seven points clear of the relegation places.

Their limitations were exposed last Friday when they were demolished 5-0 at home by Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Snodgrass, 29, has been Hull's outstanding player on their return to the top flight this season, with his tally of nine goals in all competitions bettered by only one Premier League midfielder, Tottenham's Dele Alli.

Snodgrass, who has scored seven of his goals from 19 league matches, is renowned for his set-piece ability and technical prowess.

West Ham manager Bilic has made it clear he is in the market for attacking reinforcements this month after the club's front players failed to fire in the opening half of the season.

Only Michail Antonio, who has netted eight times in the Premier League, has scored more than three league goals for the club this season.

West Ham are also working on acquiring a new striker, and have had bids rejected for Sunderland's Jermain Defoe and Brentford's Scott Hogan.

The Londoners are keen to land Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea, with one report stating that Antonio could be heading the other way as part of a swap deal.

In other West Ham transfer news, the club have made it clear they will pay what it takes to complete the signing of this world-class ace in January.
