West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has agreed terms with Roma, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers are willing to let Scamacca go either on loan or a loan-to-buy deal but the Irons want a replacement lined up before green lighting the striker's exit.

The 24-year-old is keen to return to Italy after wretched debut campaign and a deal is in place for an initial loan to Roma.

The Italy international joined the London Stadium last summer for a reported £35.5million after leaving Sassuolo.

The striker put pen to paper on a five year deal with the Premier League side that includes the option of a further year.

But a disappointing start to life in England saw Scamacca make just 16 league appearances for the Hammers.

The striker scored eight goals in his 27 appearances across all competitions and missed the final two months of the season, and a large chunk of their victorious Europa Conference League campaign, due to injury.

Despite a turbulent season, David Moyes managed to keep the Irons in the English top flight and bring home their first European trophy since 1965.

As they look to improve upon this campaign's 14th-placed finish, they will need reinforcements up front.

Winter arrival Danny Ings is contracted at the London Stadium until 2025 but started just 19 of the 43 games he featured in for the Hammers.
