Wolves could seal a deal for Wataru Endo in January as Liverpool prepare to sell the midfielder, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (12 November) that the Reds could accept an offer for midfield outcast Endo.

The 31-year-old will be allowed to leave Anfield for the right offer if Liverpool make a signing of their own in the mid-season window.

Arne Slot is not counting on the Japan international in the same way as his predecessor Jurgen Klopp – and with Liverpool top of the Premier League, there is no need for a dramatic shift in that stance.

The Dutchman has promoted Ryan Gravenberch to a starring role since taking the Anfield hot seat and has decided that Endo is surplus to requirements.

Wolves, Ipswich Town and Fulham have all registered an interest in signing the defensive midfielder in recent weeks and will watch his situation closely heading into the January window.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed last week (7 November) that Liverpool will once again scour the market for a new central midfielder in the new year.

Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi was top of the Reds’ shortlist in the summer window but a deal for the Spain international fell through.

Money will be available for the Reds in the new year after their quiet summer and strong start to the 2024-25 campaign.

Slot's side sit top of the Premier League and Champions League tables in the opening months of this season.
