'You won't get better' - Exclusive: Robinson raves as Spurs enter talks over new deal

Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to offer Hugo Lloris' a one-year contract extension after preliminary talks were opened over a new deal.

The former White Hart Lane shot-stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested that the 33-year-old is among the world's best when in form but admitted he has been inconsistent over the past two season.

Lloris still has two years remaining on his current agreement with Spurs having last signed an extension in December 2016.

Football Insider revealed yesterday that the club had opened preliminary talks with the French goalkeeper's representatives over a lucrative new deal.

The Lilywhites' captain missed a large period of last season with a dislocated elbow but regained his number one spot when he returned from Paul Gazzaniga.

"He still has two years left and that will take him to 35. It will probably be an extra year.

"Lloris is a key figure in the dressing room, the captain and he is vital to the club off the field.

"He has been inconsistent over the past two seasons but listen, he is a World Cup winner and he has all of the experience in the world. If he can recapture the form that he produced a couple of years ago you are not going to get better.

"Look at De Gea, he has had a serious dip in form and while Lloris has been inconsistent he has not been spoken about in the same light as De Gea."

Lloris has made 325 appearances for Spurs since he arrived from Ligue 1 giants Lyon for £11million in August 2012.

75-time England international Joe Hart will be providing the World Cup winner with competition next season after he penned a two-year deal with Jose Mourinho's side.
