Traore is a liability and Tottenham could be making 'massive' mistake after twist today - pundit
Danny Mills can’t believe Tottenham could be about to sign Adama Traore and deploy him as a wing-back.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back also claimed Traore’s attacking output has not been good enough this season and there is a reason he is on the bench for Wolves.
A West Ham source told Football Insider today (12 January) they are set to make a “concrete move” for the Spain international as they look to beat Tottenham to his signature.
The Athletic reported last Thursday (6 January) Antonio Conte wants to convert Traore into a right wing-back that would suit his 3-5-2 system.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at Wolves at the end of next season.
“I’ve not seen enough that makes you think he will be reliable in that position,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Last season his numbers were poor. Go back two or three seasons it was all about his end product not being good enough and it probably wasn’t.
“The season after that he changed that, his end product was much better. Last season it dipped off massively and it didn’t happen for him.
“He’s on the bench a lot of the time. There’s a reason you are on the bench, that’s what you have to look at.
“Why’s he on the bench week in, week out? If he’s not quite good enough to get in the Wolves team…
“Yes, he’s got potential but he needs to find that consistency before he gets in that Tottenham side.
“Could you rely on him defensively? I’m not convinced you could in that wing-back position.”
